With the festive season soon approaching, car and bike manufacturers are eyeing this period to see sizable volumes, with some companies expecting record sales in this time (September - November). As a result, expect the next couple of months to see plenty of action in new car and bike launches.
Here are the anticipated new vehicles that will launch, or be available, or have their pre-launch bookings starting this month.
1. Maruti Ciaz
The Ciaz may have its market introduction planned for only by mid-October, however, bookings for the sedan start this week. Maruti is betting big on the Ciaz to hijack customers from the new Honda City and Verna. Detailed technical specifications of the Ciaz are available here.
2. Suzuki Gixxer

Suzuki have confirmed the official launch of the Gixxer motorcycle for September 9. The 155 cc motorcycle which will take on the TVS Apache, Honda CB Trigger, Hero Xtreme and Pulsar 150, is priced at INR 79,809 (on-road, New Delhi).
3. KTM RC200 and RC390
Edit - KTM RC200 and KTM RC390 now launched.
KTM have confirmed the Indian launch of the highly-awaited RC390 and RC200 for September 9. The production versions of the bikes were unveiled in November last year at the EICMA, and since then, have built a fan following among motorcycle enthusiasts. Mechanicals of these two bikes are carried over from their respective Duke siblings.
4. Skoda Yeti facelift

Skoda will introduce the Yeti facelift on September 10. Showcased at the Auto Expo, the refreshed Yeti premiered worldwide at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. The crossover gets a design overhaul, though the mechanicals remain untouched. Stay tuned for our review of the Yeti facelift.
5. Mercedes E Class E350 CDI
Edit - Now launched.
Mercedes-Benz India will launch the E350 CDI on September 11. The E350 CDI sources power from the larger 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine to produce 254 bhp and 620 Nm of torque. It will be positioned above the four-cylinder engined E250 CDI in the E Class's Indian lineup.
6. Lamborghini Huracan
Edit - Now launched.
Launching on September 22 will be the Lamborghini Huracan. The Gallardo's successor which is already being previewed in India, packs in a 5.2-liter V10 engine to produce 610 PS and 560 Nm of torque. The supercar is likely to be priced at INR 3.88 crores, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
7. Honda 160 cc motorcycle
Edit - Now pushed to late October or early November.
Honda Motorcycles India Ltd. have confirmed the launch of an all-new 160 cc motorcycle in the second quarter of the current fiscal year. With the second fiscal quarter ending this month, the launch of the motorcycle is expected to take place within four weeks. Further details on the two-wheeler are unknown.
8. Fiat Avventura
Pre-launch bookings for the Avventura will start this month, sources inform Indian Autos Blog. The market introduction of the Punto-turned-crossover will only take place early next month. Fiat is also keen to show the car to prospective customers, and displays at shopping malls are being planned before the launch.
9. Honda Mobilio RS
Though Honda launched the Mobilio back in July, deliveries of the sportier RS-spec grade are announced to begin from mid-September. The RS grade adds extra visual flair to the MPV, and is available only with the diesel engine. The features seen on this grade, like side skirts, sportier bumpers and a rear spoiler, are fitted at the factory.
10. 2014 VW Polo GT TSI, GT TDI and Cross Polo
VW had announced at the time of the refreshed Polo's launch that the GT TSI, GT TDI and Cross Polo variants will be available from this month. Nationwide availability of these cars is expected from the end of September. Select dealerships though have already started deliveries of the updated car.
11. Mercedes GLA
Mercedes-Benz India have confirmed that the launch of the GLA crossover will take place on September 30. Based on the MFA platform, the GLA will rival the likes of the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. Dealers of the company already started accepting orders for the GLA since May this year.
12. Skoda Rapid 1.5 TDI with DSG
Skoda Auto India will launch the Rapid sedan with the new 1.5-liter TDI engine on September 25. The updated Rapid diesel will also benefit from a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. Design changes however, will not be introduced on the car.
13. Triumph Thunderbird Light Touring

Triumph India has extended a launch invitation for a mysterious new motorcycle to be held on the 18th of September. Sources tell IAB that it would be the turn of the Triumph Thunderbird Light Touring that world premiered at the EICMA 2013 show, to disembark here.
14. Yamaha Fazer FI V2.0
Edit - Now launched.
The first demo units of the Yamaha Fazer FI V2.0 have been seen at a dealership. Yamaha currently are retailing the V2.0 of the FZ and FZ-S, and the new Fazer should be listed on sale by the end of the month.
15. Mahindra Gusto
Mahindra Two Wheelers have announced that the Mahindra Gusto will launch in India and Nepal on September 29. The 110 cc scooter (displacement unconfirmed) has been styled in Italy and developed at the company's R&D center in Pune.
16. 2014 VW Vento
Volkswagen India will announce the prices of the 2014 VW Vento on the 24th of September. Likely to have a seven-speed DSG transmission hooked to the new 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine on the highest variant, the 2014 Vento lines would get double-barrel headlamps, new wheel designs and a new body colour option.
17. Renault Duster AWD
Renault India will introduce the Renault Duster AWD (All-Wheel Drive) variant on the 24th of September. Based on the top-end Duster 110 PS variant, the new variant adds the feature of 4WD using a Shift-on-the-fly mechanism, and along with it body graphics and a new steering wheel.
18. Chevrolet Sail
GM India will relaunch the Chevrolet Sail twins on September 25. The hatchback will drop the 'U-VA' branding and both cars will receive new interior colour and trim, and chrome body add-ons. The cars will not change mechanically.
