Fuel injected engine sees drop in power and torque.
The Yamaha Fazer FI V2.0, which has been spied recently, goes on sale at INR 83,850 (ex-showroom Delhi) from today.
Based on the FZ FI 2.0 series, the new Fazer FI is powered by a single-cylinder air-cooled 149 cc fuel injected petrol engine which puts out 13.1 PS (12.9 bhp) and 12.8 Nm of torque (0.9 PS and 0.8 Nm lesser than its carbureted 153 cc predecessor).
Yamaha claims that a lighter frame compensates for the drop in the output figures. The transmission continues to be a 5-speed unit and the fuel efficiency is claimed to have improved by 14%.
The market positioning is the same as its predecessor, i.e., above the FZ FI V2.0 series. The old version is expected to be sold alongside in a bid to offer customers a wide choice.
Coming to visual differences, the new small displacement tourer features a revised semi-fairing with new kinks under the dual headlamp, and a larger side fairing panel. The rest of the motorcycle is reminiscent of the FZ FI V2.0, with a split seat, new silencer canister, rear license plate enclosure, a tyre-hugger and a new instrument console with an Eco mode.
