The Cavalier was sold chiefly in North America from 1982 to 2005, and was also badged as a Toyota in the final years. The car was manufactured at the Lordstown assembly plant, and was succeed by the Chevrolet Malibu.

It appears that the design of the 2016 Chevrolet Cavalier will borrow cues from the Chevrolet’s latest range of sedans such as the Malibu and North American-spec Cruze. The overall dimensions and tire sizes have also been revealed. The Chevrolet Cavalier measures 4,544 mm long, 1,779 mm wide, 1,467 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. A spyshot reveals its interior for the first time, which appears to be quite basic. The dashboard adopts a waterfall design, and center console houses a 2-DIN music system and round HVAC dials. The gear lever sits tall with chrome accents around the knob, and it features a conventional mechanical hand brake and a keyhole.

Under the hood, the Chevrolet Cavalier will pack a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine that produces a maximum output of 109 hp. A manual gearbox (as seen in the spyshot) will be standard, while an automatic gearbox is likely to be offered. The Cavalier will be positioned below the Cruze in the Chinese market.
