Figo hatchback and compact sedan to be launched this year.
Camouflaged as always, three of Ford's upcoming vehicles were spotted testing in Gandhinagar, Gujarat by Team-BHP forum member Enigmatic. What's odd is that one of the mules is the full-size Figo sedan that comes with the bigger boot (4m+ overall length).
Ford sells the upcoming, India-bound Figo and the Figo sedan in Brazil as Ford Ka and Ford Ka+ respectively. The latter measures 4,254 mm, which is longer than the sub-4 meter version that has been announced for India, and previewed as a concept.
Both the Figo hatchback and the Figo compact sedan will be manufactured at Ford's facility in Sanand, Gujarat, which will also serve as an export base. While it is unclear at the moment, Ford could reserve full-size Figo sedan for exports, as the sub-4m legislation is invalid abroad, and markets like Algeria, Romania, Morocco and South Africa have a big appetite for budget sedans. Else the vehicle could have been flown down from Brazil for testing or validation.
An earlier report says that the Figo compact sedan will enter production first in Sanand, before the end of March 2015.
Powering the two will be an engine range likely to consist of a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit. While the former is a fully localised version of the same unit found in the present Figo but with a new cylinder head and peripherals, the latter currently does duty in the EcoSport and the Fiesta.

A previous set of spy shots reveal that the Figo compact sedan will get a piano black finished centre console, and a mobile docking station. Top end specs of both the vehicles will sport alloy wheels, chrome grille, OVRMs with indicators, and roof-mounted antennae.
