TVS Akula 310 to be launched by March 2017.
TVS-BMW’s second product, the first with the Indian company’s badge, will be priced below the INR 2 lakh rupee mark, claim reports.
Unveiled at the Auto Expo in 2016, the TVS Akula concept paid homage to the company's 33 years of racing heritage. As a through track focused machine, the Akula was loaded to the gills. Premium features included a carbon fibre body, a six speed quick shifting gearbox, upside down front forks and on-board gyroscopic camera.
TVS Motor's CFO this month reconfirmed that the Akula would be introduced in the Feb-March 2017 period. Powering the bike will be the 313 cc single cylinder mill which in the BMW G310R and G 310GS churns out 34 PS of maximum power and 28 Nm of peak torque.
The production version of the Akula 310 might be named TVS Apache RTR 300. The smallest BMW duo and TVS Apache RTR 300 will be manufactured in Hosur. This will be TVS’ first fully faired model.
Unlike its competition, TVS has always believed in providing usable power to its customers and the new Apache RTR 200 is living proof to that. So while Apache RTR 300’s prime opponent, KTM RC 200 is a slick track based tool, the TVS will be a more city friendly machine.
Based on the spyshots, we infer that the TVS Apache RTR 300 retains the upside down front forks and a braking system of the prototype. Expect it to be priced around INR 1.75 lakhs.
