A market launch could be on the cards.
Team-BHP member, 'duke', has snapped the Jeep Renegade testing in India. It's unclear if FCA has decided to launch the Renegade in India, given that they had cancelled its arrival in 2014.
At the Auto Expo 2016, Jeep India confirmed that the models to go on sale were the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee and SRT Cherokee. However, given the soaring demand for compact SUVs priced between 10 – 20 Lakhs, FCA could widen the appeal with the Renegade, which could serve as Jeep’s entry level premium SUV to rival top-end grades of the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
According to import documents, two models were imported to India, which are powered by the 2.0-liter MultiJet II diesel engine. The only difference is that one has a 6-speed manual while the other is equipped with a 9-speed automatic. An AWD system could be optional in higher grades.

Given that FCA is looking to localize the Small Wide platform of the Renegade for the slightly bigger Jeep 551 Compact SUV that will be manufactured and launched in India in 2017, the Jeep Renegade could be assembled at good localization levels at the Fiat-Tata JV plant in Ranjangaon, if FCA is planning to launch it.
