The third model showcased by Jeep at the Auto Expo 2016 is the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It will be available in both petrol and diesel options when it launches in the Indian market in the second half of 2016.
The front end gets the characteristic seven-slot Jeep grille that is flanked by sleek Bi-Xenon headlamps with LED DRLs and small fog lamps. The side view comprises of flared square wheel arches, chrome-finished 20-inch alloy wheels and the “Grand Cherokee” lettering on the front doors. At the rear are wraparound tail lights, tailgate spoiler and dual chrome exhaust tips.
The massive SUV has dimensions of 4,821 mm, 1,943 mm and 1,730 mm in length, width and height respectively. The Summit variant will come with 20-inch alloys whereas the Limited variant will come with 18-inch alloys.
Inside, the center console looks uncluttered with well-placed buttons. The Grand Cherokee Limited will get sunroof, premium leather seats, Selec-terrain traction control, 5-inch touch-screen infotainment system, memory seat for the driver and 8-way power adjustable front seats, whereas the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit will additionally get ventilated front seats and 8.4-inch touch-screen navigation and infotainment system along with rear DVD entertainment system.
Both the Grand Cherokee Limited and Summit will be powered by a 3.0L CRD Turbo V6 Diesel engine generating 240 hp and 570 Nm of torque. The Grand Cherokee Limited comes with Quadra Trac II and the Grand Cherokee Summit gets the Quadra Drive II traction control to give it commendable 4x4 performance and experience. All engines are available only with the 8-speed automatic transmission. The petrol engine option has not been revealed.
