Reportedly debuts in Thailand around August this year.
The next-generation Pajero Sport SUV, whose global debut is reported to take place in August this year in Thailand has been rendered. HeadlightMag has published the artistic impression of the front and rear of the 2016 Pajero Sport.
The rendering suggests that the Sport is likely to be inspired from the GR-HEV utility concept and the Outlander PHEV Concept-S. The face of the car has been depicted with X-shaped front bumper and multi-slat chrome grille, imitating the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander which was unveiled last week.
The Pajero Sport is based on the new ladder-frame chassis of the Triton pickup, while the front styling is reported to be different from the Triton completely. The new car is likely to be slightly longer than the outgoing model, which is the lone Mitsubishi offering in India.
The new SUV may get the new 2.4-liter DOHC 4-cylinder 16-valve VG-Turbo (with Intercooler) diesel engine generating 184 PS and 430 Nm of torque. The current model in India is offered with a slightly larger but older 2.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel producing 176 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. Mitsubishi may continue to offer the 5-speed manual and automatic transmission options but the latter could be upgraded to a 6-speed unit.

At present, the Pajero Sport is assembled at the Hindustan Motor Finance Corp’ (HMFCL) plant in Tiruvallur (Tamil Nadu), by importing kits from Thailand. This is likely to continue for the new third-generation Pajero Sport as well.
