Borrows design cues from Renault Talisman.
Renault is currently testing a new D-segment SUV, which will soon replace the aging Renault Koleos in the global product range. Courtesy of instagram use, Markus Schuller, here is a spyshot of the camouflaged model testing in Stuttgart, Germany.
The D-segment SUV is expected to be based on the Renault-Nissan CMF platform, and will share its innards with the Nissan X-Trail, which was revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Like its Nissan counterpart, Renault could offer a 5+2 seating layout for the Koleos successor to appeal to larger families.
Although not indicated in the new spyshot, the Renault SUV will follow the company's latest design philosophy which influences the new Renault Espace, Renault Talisman and the upcoming Renault Megane. The rear-end features a shark-fin antenna, roof-mounted spoiler, and LED taillamps.
Along with the CMF platform, the Renault SUV will also source the engine lineup from the Nissan X-Trail, which includes 2.0- and 2.5-liter petrol engines and a 1.6-liter diesel engine. It will be equipped with a standard 2WD system, while a 4WD drivetrain is optional.
The Renault Koleos successor is expected to be revealed in early 2016, and make its public debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. As for its entry into the Indian market, it is currently unconfirmed, although Renault could consider launching it as a rival to the upcoming VW Tiguan, which will launch in 2016 in India.
