Renault believes that the upmarket move will help them compete against the VW Golf and Peugeot 308.

It will also get improved interior and build quality, and could feature a large infotainment touchscreen display that integrates most of the interior functions into the system, thereby reducing button count significantly.

The next generation model will be based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF architecture (CMF-CD) that also underpins the new Nissan Pulsar. Switching from the outgoing model’s C-Platform to the CMF will not only keep manufacturing costs competitive for Renault, but also helps shed weight from the outgoing model.
