The entire range of BMW cars in India will be available with petrol engines by March 2017.
Before the BMW X3 and BMW X5, BMW had introduced petrol options for 5 series and 3 series petrol. Here's the lowdown on the two petrol SUV variants launched by BMW India yesterday.
BMW X3 xDrive28i xLine
The present version of the BMW X3 was introduced in August 2014 with a diesel mill with CKD kits sourced from the Spartanburg plant in the United States. The new BMW X3 xDrive28i is powered by a 2.0 litre TwinPower turbocharged inline four cylinder coupled with an 8 speed automatic Steptronic transmission. It is capable of producing 245 PS of maximum power at 5,000 rpm and 350 Nm of peak torque at 1,250-4,800 rpm.
The BMW X3 gets an iDrive touch controller with a 22.3 cm colour display, DVD drive and an integrated 20 GB hard drive for maps and audio files. The Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), as BMW calls it, gets a 205 watt HiFi sound system, front and rear parking sensors, parking camera, stability control and tyre pressure monitor.
The BMW X3 xDrive28i is priced at INR 54.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
BMW X5 xDrive35i Design Pure Experience (5 seater)
The BMW X5 in its present form was launched in India back in May 2014 and continued only with a diesel engine. Powering the BMW X5 xDrive35i is a 3.0 litre TwinPower turbocharged petrol with the same 8 speed automatic gearbox. This engine is capable of producing 306 PS of maximum power at 5,800-6,400 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 1,200 to 5,000 rpm.
Features include LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, launch control, iDrive infotainment coupled with a 600 watt Harman Kardon audio system and traction control. The BMW X5 also gets a 26 cm screen assisting the iDrive system, Park Distance Control and a Navigation system with 3D maps.
The BMW X5 xDrive35i has been priced at INR 73.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
