Available only in one model and one trim level.
As automakers continue relaunching/launching petrol models owing to the ban on diesel engined vehicles displacing over 2 liters in the Delhi NCR region, BMW has relaunched the BMW 5 Series petrol in India. The 5 Series petrol follows less than just a month after the 3 Series petrol was relaunched. It's worth mentioning that the entry-level BMW 5 Series (BMW 520d) isn't affected by the ban, as it displaces 1,995 cc.
BMW has brought in the entry-level BMW 520i model for INR 54,00,000 (ex-showroom India). While the BMW 520d and BMW 530d are assembled in Chennai, the BMW 520i is a CBU which explains the steep price for a model that is nearing the end of its lifecycle. It's available in three exterior colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphire and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect.
The BMW 520i is powered by the 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 135 kW (184 hp) at 5,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 270 Nm of torque at 1,250-4,500 rpm. Power is sent to the wheels via the 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. 0-100 km/h is clocked in 7.9 seconds, and although BMW India doesn't mention the top speed, the Euro-spec version's 235 km/h top speed figure is an idea of what the base petrol 5er is capable of.
