Lightweight crossover set to take on the German heavyweights.
The upcoming Jaguar F-Pace has been photographed testing by Indian Autos Blog reader Marc Teddy Amschwand in Zurich. The car is wearing a close-to-production body, preparing to step into the market next year.
The name F-Pace was chosen to deliberately make a connection with the F-Type sports car and to Jaguar’s famous 'Grace, Pace, Space' slogan from the 1950s.
Although the car is cleverly camouflaged, the design and form matches that of the Jaguar C-X17 concept revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The rakishly designed "sports crossover" would have similar proportions, meaning it would measure about 4,718 mm long, 1,959 mm wide, 1,649 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,905 mm.
The mainstay engines for the F-Pace would be the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium mills that is benefiting the XE. A 3.0-liter supercharged V6 and a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, used on performance JLR models, would also be offered, say reports.
The car is expected to carry a fresh look on the interior, perhaps borrowing a few elements from the new Jaguar XF that will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show. It will be manufactured at the Solihull plant and should reach dealers in the EU in early 2016.
