Likely to borrow its engines from the Elite i20.
Here are more spyshots of the Hyundai Elite i20 Cross that has been testing in-and-around Chennai for a couple of months now. A Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) official recently said that the car will launch early next year.
Based on the Elite i20, which has been very well received with over 60,000 bookings and a Car of the Year Award, the Cross sports roof rails, skid guards, body cladding, possibly redesigned front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels and not to mention features such as projector headlights and LED daytime running lights.
The interior too could get minor changes in the form of dashboard inserts and color, or new seat fabrics.
The Elite i20 Cross is expected to launch with a 1.2-liter petrol engine and a 1.4-liter diesel engine, the same engines that power the Elite i20. The petrol comes matched to a 5-speed transmission, while the diesel gets a 6-speed gearbox. An automatic transmission is not on offer across both engines.
