Will likely be the third TNGA platform-based model.
The current, second generation Toyota Auris, also sold as the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Corolla iM in some markets, was introduced in 2012 and given a facelift last year. Last month, the third generation Toyota Auris was spied testing for the first time, in Europe. Now, a set of speculative renderings from Kolesa.ru show how the 2017 Toyota Auris may look like.
The third generation Toyota Auris's exterior will likely have some notable similarities to the fourth generation Toyota Prius introduced last year. Spyshots have revealed boomerang-shaped headlamps, sleek upper grille and three-slat lower grille to be among the commonalities.
The third generation Toyota Auris will be based on the NGA-C version of the company's new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) modular platform that currently underpins the fourth generation Toyota Prius and the upcoming Toyota C-HR. The same platform will likely underpin the second gneration Lexus CT that will also arrive in 2017.

The 2017 Toyota Auris is expected to be offered with updated/new petrol and diesel engines with displacements ranging from 1.2- to 1.6-litre, with the smallest engine being the 8NR-FTS 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit that debuted in the current Auris and is planned to be offered in the C-HR and the current Corolla sedan. The hybrid variant will likely share the 2016 Toyota Prius's powertrain with the 2017 Lexus CT.
