Will be the second generation model.

The Lexus CT was introduced in 2010 and launched in Japan in 2011. With the mid-life facelift given in November 2013, the smallest offering from the Toyota Motor's luxury brand will continue in its first generation for at least another year. Come 2017, we'll see the fully redesigned, second generation Lexus CT being introduced.

The second-gen Lexus CT 2017 should be offered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine besides a hybrid version.

The second-gen 2017 Lexus CT will be based on the Toyota Motor's TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) modular platform, a senior Toyota official has confirmed, as per a report from Autovisie. The fourth-gen 2016 Toyota Prius was the first global model to be based on this platform. The next-gen Lexus CT is currently under development and a prototype was spied testing in the UK in July.

Along with the platform, the all-new Lexus CT will likely share technicalities with the fourth-gen Toyota Prius. The current Lexus CT is powered by the same hybrid powertrain as the third generation Toyota Prius. This hybrid system has been carried over in the fourth generation of the latter, with significant re-engineering. Paired to this engine, should be an e-CVT gearbox, channeling power to the front wheels.

However, unlike the fourth-gen Toyota Prius, the second-gen Lexus CT may not be offered with four-wheel drive. Another prediction is that the 2017 Lexus CT will be offered with a conventional petrol engine, probably a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, on the base variant.
