A lower-spec test mule of the 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift was spotted testing. The spy pictures were captured by Team-BHP member DRIV3R sporting the 'Trend' badge on the tailgate. Until now, only the top-spec Titanium trims have carried badging signifying the trim level. The Trend and Ambiente spec EcoSport do without a badge.

Unlike the current model, the Ford EcoSport facelift will have badges on the tail gate denoting mid- and lower-spec trims.

Images of the test unit also reveal a new rear wheel cover design, identical to the one shown in China in April 2017. The source also claims to have spotted a new alloy wheel design, but it is not visible in the spy shots. The Trend trim is currently not offered with alloy wheels. The compact SUV was finished in Golden Bronze, a colour that was added to the lineup in October 2015.

The EcoSport facelift was recently spotted undisguised revealing the full extent of the exterior changes. These include a new nose complete with new headlamps, fog lamp enclosure, and a new twin slat chrome grille. The headlamp gets projector units and LED pilot lights. Changes to the rear are restricted to a new wheel cover design. Ford will also add new colours including Aproador Red and a new shade of blue.

On the inside, the centre console has been redesigned and will accommodate an 8-inch touchscreen display. The cabin also gets a new steering wheel and a new instrument console. Ford will offer the EcoSport facelift with its latest SYNC 3 AppLink infotainment system. Cruise control will be on offer.

Reports are indicating that Ford will introduce a new 1.5 L DRAGON Petrol engine with the 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift launch. The power output will be in the 125-130 PS range with manual and automatic transmission options on offer. The 1.5 L TDCi diesel and 1.0 L EcoBoost petrol are likely to be carried forward unchanged. The launch of the new Ford EcoSport will take place this festive season.
