The upcoming Ford EcoSport facelift has been spied undisguised on Indian roads for the first time. The unit spotted in Tamil Nadu by a Team-BHP member is finished in the Arpoador Red paint shade, which is new to the India market.
Although the design of the 2017 EcoSport facelift is no mystery, this is the first time it is spotted in India sans camouflage. The car features new headlamps with projector units and a new fog lamp enclosure that also houses the turn indicators. The grille is now a single piece unit that has been given a generous helping of chrome. The colour indicates Ford will add new paint shades to the EcoSport's palette with the mid-cycle action.
Another team BHP member has revealed details regarding the EcoSport's equipment list, engine options and launch date. The upcoming SUV will get the 8-inch touchscreen with Ford's SYNC 3 AppLink infotainment system. Cruise control will also be on offer.
Contrary to media reports suggesting the engine options will remain the same, the petrol variant of the EcoSport will be powered by a new 1.5 L three cylinder engine from the Dragon family, claims this member. Power output will be in the region of 125-130 PS. There will be an automatic transmission option with paddle shifters on offer. Note that Ford has just released this engine in the Brazilian EcoSport.
Ford India is expected to officially reveal the car around October and open bookings thereafter. The price reveal is expected in November followed by deliveries commencing December onwards. Prices of the upcoming 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift could start at around INR 7 lakhs (ex-showroom). Ford will export the EcoSport to the North American market where it will go on sale in early 2018.
