The 2014 Mahindra Scorpio facelift was caught on test near Nashik, Maharashtra, by Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Saahil Kapoor. Mr. Saahil reports that there were at least three prototypes of the Scorpio on test, all equipped with LED taillights.
The Scorpio facelift, which has been testing for over a year now, would be introduced in the festive season months (September - November) this year, sources have told Indian Autos Blog. The exterior of the SUV will see significant design changes coming in the form of new projector headlights, a more muscular-looking grille, redesigned bumpers and alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the taillights will get LED elements.
However, there will be more changes inside the Scorpio compared to today's model. The entire dashboard is reported to have been replaced with a better quality unit, with certain parts such as the steering wheel coming from the more expensive XUV500. A new central infotainment system will also be offered on the higher trims of the car.
Mechanical changes, sources inform Indian Autos Blog, will come in the form of a reworked suspension and a better NVH package than the outgoing model. No major improvements are expected for the 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine which powers the SUV, and comes with a choice of a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
