Mahindra Scorpio is Sri Lanka’s new police vehicle

Mahindra Scorpio Special Edition Auto Expo 2010The Sri Lankan police force will now look butch and flaunt a new style statement as 137 brand new examples of the Mahindra Scorpio have joined its fleet. The Lankan police force has picked up 485 units of the LX model which will be delivered in phases.

We are delighted that the Scorpio LX 4W is the SUV (Special Utility Vehicle) of choice for the Sri Lankan Police Force as well as for the Ministry of Defence (MoD). I am sure it will prove to be an asset to the police and the MoD in their day to day operations.

The Scorpio has created a niche for itself in the Sri Lankan market with a combination of style and robustness. Around the world, the Scorpio variants are serving military and security forces in different outfits. The new Scorpios are joining duty all around Sri Lanka replacing vehicles of the former police fleet. It will be powered by the same 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Mahindra entering Brunei this year?

Media reports in Brunei are abuzz with reports on Mahindra’s entry into their country. Bruenei has plenty of Mahindra vehicles, individually brought in by many customers who feel the car suits the landscape and their demands perfectly. Borneo Bulletin reports United Motors Sdn Bhd will be the official distributor of the Mahindra range in Brunei. Mahindra Genio and Scorpio pickups head to SA

Mahindra plans to increase its footprint in South Africa by appointing more dealers, BusinessLive South Africa is reporting. Mahindra will introduce two vehicles in South Africa over the next few months. The dealership count has increased from 20 in 2005 to 40 in 2011 which sell Scorpio, Thar and Xylo in many parts of SA. After launching the Mahindra Pik-Up (Scorpio Getaway) in Australia, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has embarked on a tour named ‘Commitment to Australia’, with a hope of winning customers over, and publicising the brand name. The touring team will meet current Mahindra drivers, prospective customers and dealers to gather feedback and positive aspects of the pick-up truck.
