The next generation Ford Ka (which for India would be the next gen Ford Figo) was caught on test in Brazil recently. As these images reveal, the production version of the hatchback stays true to the Concept Ford Ka unveiled in Brazil in November last year.
According to Brazilian website Autos Segredos, Ford will launch the new Ka in Brazil next month. Prices are expected to start from 28,000 Brazilian Reals (INR 7.7 lakhs) while engine options would include a three-cylinder turbocharged 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine and a four-cylinder 1.5-liter motor borrowed from the Fiesta.
The Ka hatchback was designed and developed by Ford Brazil, while the designer of the car, Ehab Kaoud, is also credited with designing the EcoSport.
The Ka hatchback is one of several new/refreshed B-Segment hatchbacks which will launch in India over the course of the next 12-18 months. Before Ford India launches the Ka hatchback, the sub-4 meter sedan based on the Ka, dubbed Ford Figo Sedan, could be introduced to replace the aging Ford Classic, since the concept has been previewed.
For the Indian market, the Ka hatchback and sedan will be powered by a diesel engine in addition to a petrol. Ford can choose to use its 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel (found on the EcoSport and Fiesta) as it complies with the Indian small car regulations.
