We brought you the news that Great Wall Motors' rapidly growing SUV brand Haval has been granted autonomy in operation.
The Haval brand would market its line of SUVs independently without the Great Wall branding. The move comes in the light of Haval's stupendous performance in 2012 that saw a total sales of 2,80,000 units, which made it eligible to become a separate brand.
Here is the first set of spy shots of the transformed Haval H6 which sheds the Great Wall logo to adopt the newly designed Haval logo. The logo has the brand name written in a simple Italicized font on a red background.
Haval badges can be see on the front grill, wheels, tail gate and the steering boss. For a comparison, here is an image of the car which sports the Great Wall logo.
The new Haval is expected to officially launch at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show which opens on April 20 to the media. Soon after getting independence, Haval would launch a massive product onslaught, an outline of which has been announced already.
A new compact SUV called the Haval H2 is being readied and so is a full size flagship called the H8. It is to be noted that Great Wall is studying the Indian market to introduce the Haval brand and that could mean the setting up of a local assembly plant.
Letting Haval proceed on its own seems to be a good move from Great Wall Motors since the SUV brand can move up and sell at a premium.
