The Suzuki Wagon R electric prototypes that are being tested on the Indian roads are based on the current JDM-spec Wagon R which went on sale in February 2017. The 50 test units have been imported from Japan via the CKD route and have been assembled at the company's Gurugram-based facility. The prototypes use an electric motor that gets its juice from a 72-volt, 10.25 kWh battery.

It will use the data gathered from the testing for the validation and launch of an EV based on the next-gen Wagon R. The JDM-spec Wagon R sits on the Heartect platform and is too expensive for our market.
