The most awaited hatchback which will start a new chapter for Honda in India has finally been snapped in Thailand. The pics that you see over here are the spy pics of the production ready Honda Brio just before its global launch.
At the outset, we are thankful to Honda because the production ready model is almost identical to the concept (a very rare occurrence). To be honest, the side profile looks like a mash up of Maruti Suzuki A-star (Alto for overseas readers) and Chevrolet’s Beat (new Chevrolet Spark for overseas readers). According to sources, Honda Brio measures 3.6 m in length, 1.68 m in width and 1.475 m in height.
The Brio will be powered by the same 1.2L engine that does its duty in the Jazz and a 3-cylinder 900cc engine without VTEC is also in the works for 2012. According to on lookers, the spied mule was doing 120 km/h. We presume that Honda was testing stability of the car at high speed.
The mule features a slightly elevated rear window line. This same pattern has already been seen on A-star and the soon-to-be launched Hyundai HA. The test mule also features a sleek spoiler. We are guessing this feature will be available in the top end variant.
The global launch is expected to happen on later this week on March 17 and the Brio will find its way to the Indian dealers by September 2011.
Sources also tell us that a compact, low-cost sedan could result from this platform.
What are your views on what you have seen so far about the Brio?
