Yamaha is readying a special edition of the R15 reports Indonesian blog Macantua.
Excitement levels are at the peak for the Yamaha R15 v3.0. The existence bike has been confirmed by the Indian R&D head earlier, who revealed that the new bike will get technological and safety centric updates.
The image shared by Macantua reveals a motorcycle which has the same side fairing as the current generation Yamaha R15. The headlamp though bears a new shape. In fact, the console has a very close resemblance to the Yamaha R25, the next step R series bike family sold in Indonesia.
Now with Yamaha’s track record of bringing comprehensive updates to the R15 whenever there is a generation leap, it is unlikely that cosmetics changes will be so limited. Even the body graphics are in the same locations as of the R15 v2.0. We infer that this one is more of a special edition or variant for the region.
The 149 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected engine in the Yamaha R15 v2.0 (and R15S) churns out 17 PS of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 15 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm.
The Yamaha R15 v3.0 (codenamed Yamaha BG7) is expected to gain a new 155 cc VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) engine when it comes to the market next year.
