Is one of five future crossover/SUV class models from Volkswagen.
Volkswagen launched the second generation VW Touareg in 2010 and is now working on the third generation VW Touareg. Spyshots published by Motor1 have revealed that the company has commenced testing the next-gen VW Touareg on public roads.
The next-gen VW Touareg is said to have been previewed by the VW T-Prime Concept GTE unveiled at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show. Designers could look towards the concept to borrow design cues and other elements, though the overall size and shape would resemble the current model.
The next-gen VW Touareg will be based on the MLB-Evo platform that currently underpins various Volkswagen Group models including the Audi Q7 and the Bentley Bentayga. This platform will be used for the next-gen Porsche Cayenne as well.

The next-gen VW Touareg is expected to be offered with an array of TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines from the other Volkswagen models as well as Volkswagen Group models. Additionally, in some markets, Volkswagen may offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain as well. It's a little too early to say when the next-gen VW Touareg hits the markets, and especially whether it will be sold in India or not. At the moment, VW India has announced that it will launch the new Tiguan compact SUV (expected by mid-2017).
