Likely to retain the same engine.
The updated version of the Bajaj Platina is slated for a launch in February 2015. The new bike will receive new graphics, exhaust pipe, new colours and body panels while the engine remains essentially the same 99.27 cc air cooled motor which produces 8.2 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 8.05 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm and gets a four speed gearbox to put its power on to the road.
As the Platina is a commuter motorcycle in Bajaj’s range, the output is expected to be tweaked even further to increase the motorcycle’s fuel economy.
While the new Platina was spotted testing at various occasions, it is noticed to carry the same headlight and taillight design as well as the same turn signal indicators. The telescopic forks, drum brakes and alloys are also exactly the same as the outgoing 2014 model. There would be new colour schemes that would be available, but at this moment there are no indications on what they might be.
Currently, the Platina 100 is priced at about INR 37,044, ex-showroom, Maharashtra and the new version is also expected to receive a similar price tag once it launches next month.
The fuel efficient commuter will be going against Hero’s Passion and Splendor models and also against the Japanese Honda’s Dream Series of motorcycles.
