A new YouTube video shows a red-coloured test mule of the MG Hector completely undisguised, giving the clearest look at the exterior outdoors. Earlier this month, the exterior design was officially revealed and images of the exterior and interior from a dealer preview event had surfaced online shortly after.

The new MG Hector is basically a reskinned Baojun 530 with a unique grille. It is equipped with a two-tier headlamp setup with unique twin-pod main lights, 17-inch dual-tone wheels, faux skid plates, LED tail lights, a portrait-style infotainment system, six-way power adjustable seat, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold function, 360-degree camera, Harman Infinity audio system and a host of connected car features.

Engine options of the MG Hector will include a 143 hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine unit and a 2.0-litre diesel engine unit sourced from FCA. While both the engines will be available with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, the turbo-petrol engine will be available with an optional 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as well. A 48-volt mild-hybrid system will be available with the petrol engine optionally, for a 12% higher fuel efficiency.

When launched, the car is expected to retail in a price bracket of INR 15-20 lakh (ex-showroom) range, and at this price point, it will rival the likes of other SUVs in the segment such as the Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier.
