Will borrow its engines from the Swift.
The Maruti YBA (codename) sub-4 meter SUV was snapped by a reader of GaadiWaadi in the Delhi-NCR region. Though the prototype is camouflaged, it manages to reveal its production-ready taillights in these spyshots.
The YBA will be introduced in the market this financial year with a debut taking place at the Auto Expo 2016, in the first week of February 2016. It will slot below the Maruti S-Cross, and rival competitors such as the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300.
Under the hood, the YBA will borrow its engines from the Swift, which include the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine. Maruti could choose to offer its CVT gearbox with the petrol engine in a bid to appeal to owners who are primarily looking for an urban runabout. The YBA's rivals, the EcoSport and the TUV300, are available with an automatic transmission or an automated manual transmission in the case of the TUV300.

When launched, the YBA, like the Baleno and S-Cross, could be sold through Maruti's NEXA outlets exclusively. Maruti has promised 100 NEXA outlets by the end of this year.
