Will be offered with petrol and diesel engines.
According to a report on GaadiWaadi, Maruti Suzuki will launch the Maruti 'YJC' (codename for the 7-seat Maruti Wagon R) in September 2016. The publication reports that the company has already asked its vendors to start supplying parts for the vehicle, and is expected to commence testing soon.
Maruti, which is reportedly targeting annual sales of 80,000 units for the 7-seat Wagon R, will equip it with petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant could either use the 1.0-liter three-cylinder K-Series engine or the 1.2-liter K-Series engine. The diesel variant though, will use the 0.8-liter twin-cylinder DDiS 125 engine, which does duty on the Celerio. The YJC will tuck under the 4 meter length, and will have the Datsun Go+ as its main rival.
Suzuki, at the 2013 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS 2013), showcased the concept Wagon R with three-row seating layout. However, in comparison to the concept, the exterior design is likely to be altered on the production model.

Apart from catering to private customers, the YJC could also target the fleet market, which generally prefers the added utility of extra seats.
