Will borrow engines from the Swift.
Seen in these latest spy images is the Maruti YBA (codename) sub-4 meter SUV, which was snapped testing in Rajasthan. These are the most clearest spyshots to have emerged yet and give a fair idea of what to expect.
The front fascia gets a bold design, highlighted by the large, honeycomb airdam, a retro-placement for the indicator lights, projector headlights with a secondary halogen unit and integrated LED daytime running lights.
The front-three-quarter spyshot reveals chunky tyres (likely 205-section) on 16-inch, 5-multi-spoke rims with a dull finish. The extending waistline seems inspired by the Suzuki iV-4 concept.
Inside, the Maruti YBA, which according to reports could be named the Maruti Vitara Brezza, gets an all-black interior with silver inserts. The center console sports a piano-black finish, and previous spyshots have shown the YBA with the touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system. The compact SUV will share plenty of parts and components with the Swift, as far as the interior is concerned.
Coming to the engines, the YBA will borrow its powertrain from the Baleno/Swift models. The engine lineup will include the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel paired to 5-speed manual transmissions. The petrol could get the option of a CVT thus rivaling the Ford EcoSport AT which features a 6-speed Powershift dual-clutch gearbox.

The YBA is expected to be revealed next month, with a market launch set for the Auto Expo 2016 in February.
