Sources have confirmed to Indian Autos Blog that the Maruti YBA will have its market launch at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. However, an unveiling is expected to take place for the media in the month of January itself.

2. Positioning in the lineup:

The YBA is a sub-4 meter SUV and will target the likes of the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300. In Maruti's portfolio, the YBA will be positioned below the S-Cross but above the Swift. Prices of certain variants will overlap with that of the recently-launched Maruti Baleno.

3. Engine lineup:

Multiple sources have confirmed to Indian Autos Blog that the YBA will borrow its engines from the Swift. These include the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol unit and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine. However, like in the Baleno, the petrol could see the option of a CVT gearbox in addition to a 5-speed manual transmission.

4. Exterior design:

The exteriors of the YBA borrow plenty of styling cues from the Suzuki iV-4 concept. The YBA is expected to get a grille with vertical slats, a clamshell bonnet and most importantly a tapering roof line with small quarter glass windows. Large wheel arches and 16-inch wheels, roof rails, skid plates and body cladding will give the YBA the look of a butch crossover, a person in the know said.

5. Interior design:

Revealing spyshots have shown the YBA to get an all-new dashboard unseen on any Maruti product till date. However, parts and features will be shared with the Baleno, including the touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system, steering and the integrated controls, door handles, power window switches and gearlever.
