Maruti Suzuki will launch the XL6, which was previously referred to as the Ertiga Cross, on 21 August. According to a new report, it will offer this model in only two grades, namely Zeta and Alpha.
While the Maruti Ertiga is sold through Arena, the Maruti XL6, as the name of its equipment lines suggest, will be sold through NEXA. Alpha will be the range-topping grade and Zeta will be the lower grade. The Alpha grade will include features like a reverse camera, leather seats and cruise control on the inside and dual-tone colour scheme and black alloy wheels on the outside in its higher Alpha grade. These will be in addition to the SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, individual captain seats for the second row, full LED headlamps and DRLs and the all-black interior theme carried over from the Zeta grade.
Compared to the Maruti Ertiga, the Maruti XL6 has a more aggressive and dynamic look. It has with a more imposing front-end comprising a bigger hexagonal grille featuring twin chrome slats which sit between the LED DRLs, sharper headlamps, a chunkier bumper and a faux skid plate. On the sides, it features black cladding on the lower body, silver-finished roof rails and silver garnish on the rocker panels. At the back, there will again be a more muscular bumper and a faux skid plate contributing to its rugged character.
Under the hood, the Maruti XL6 will make use of the BS-VI version of the K15 SMART HYBRID petrol engine which develops 77 kW (104.6 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm at 4,400 rpm in the BS-IV version. Transmission choices will include 5-speed manual or 4-speed torque converter automatic. Though the official launch is weeks away, the pre-bookings may commence soon.
