Likely to be offered with the same engines as the Ciaz.
Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker sold a record 1.17 million vehicles the past financial year posting an impressive growth of 11 percent. Going forth, the company's chairman, R C Bhargava, expects a double digit growth this year as well owing to the brand entering new segments like compact SUV and mini SUV (sub-4 meter).
The compact SUV segment will be addressed by the SX4 S-Cross, which is expected to go on sale by the first half of this year. The S-Cross was snapped testing recently sans camouflage, and these spyshots show an all-new dual-slat chrome grille exclusive to the Indian market.
For the European market, the S-Cross is offered with 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines with a standard front wheel drive layout and optional AWD with Suzuki's AllGrip technology. Maruti is yet to confirm the engine options for the Indian model, though sources say that the crossover will borrow its engines from the Ciaz (1.4-liter petrol and 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced MultiJet diesel engine).
