The Maruti SX4 S-Cross was spotted on test again, this time in the NCR region.
Showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the S-Cross is reported to go on sale in India early next year. The car is already sold in Europe, where it is available with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.6-liter four-cylinder Fiat Multijet diesel engine.
The petrol motor of the SX4 S-Cross makes 120 PS (118.3 bhp) and 156 Nm of torque and comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The diesel also makes an identical 120 PS (118.3 bhp) of power, but it churns out a substantially more 320 Nm of torque. The diesel is available only with a 6-speed manual transmission. Both engines can be specced with 2WD or Suzuki's ALLGRIP 4WD system.
For India, Maruti is rumored to be considering a Peugeot-sourced diesel engine. Top-end variants of the S-Cross will come equipped with alloy wheels, ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, automatic climate control, a multifunction steering wheel and engine starter button. It remains to be seen if Maruti will offer the 4WD variant of the S-Cross in India.
