The Maruti SX4 S-Cross was snapped on test recently by a member of The Automotive India.
The S-Cross was showcased in India for the first time at the Auto Expo this year. Its launch is expected in the early part of the next calendar year.
The SX4 S-Cross had its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show last year. In Europe, which happens to be the first market where the S-Cross went on sale, the crossover is available with 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines. The petrol motor makes 120 PS (118.3 bhp) and 156 Nm of torque and comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT.
The diesel motor, borrowed from Fiat, is capable of producing 120 PS (118.3 bhp) and 320 Nm of torque, and gets a 6-speed manual transmission. For the Indian version, the diesel engine could be sourced from Peugeot. The S-Cross can be specced to send power to only the front wheels, or all four wheels with Suzuki's ALLGRIP technology.
The S-Cross measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, 1,575 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. The length of the car puts it outside the sub-4 meter crossover segment, and the pricing is hence expected to be closer to the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra Scorpio.
Competitors: Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra Scorpio, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai ix25
Expected Price: INR 8-11 lakhs, ex-Showroom
