To be launched this year.
Mahindra P601 LCV (codename) continues to be tested ahead of its expected launch this year. The vehicle, to be positioned as a rival to the Tata Ace, was spotted by IAB reader Felix Jude.
Earlier spyshots suggest that Mahindra has chosen dumbbell shaped headlamps with integrated blinkers, a cabin with components shared with Maxximo, and a dashboard-mounted gear lever.
Expected to be available in two wheelbase options, as reported earlier, the payload capacity could vary between 600 kg and 1,000 kg. As for its engine, either the Maxximo's 909 cc 2-cylinder engine or a new powerplant could be used.

In the long-term, Mahindra could manufacture the P601 at its proposed facility in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu alongside the S101 compact crossover, but has to utilize capacity from one of its existing plants to keep the launch on schedule.
