Reader Mr. Ankit from Mumbai spotted a camouflaged Mahindra Maxximo Mini van near the Mumbai-Pune expressway yesterday. The Mini van is a passenger-carrying derivative of the Maxximo LCV launched in April 2011.
The front section of the cab of the test mule was camouflaged. This can only mean that the grille, headlights and bumper would undergo some kind of a change. Tata Motors has launched the Ace facelift with similar body changes, and is seen testing the Ace Magic (passenger van) with the updates.
Mechanically, the Maxximo Mini van has a 909 cc twin-cylinder CRDI engine that makes 25 hp @ 3,600 RPM and 55 Nm @ 1,800-2,200 RPM, paired to a five-speed gearbox. It takes the Maxximo Mini Van to a top speed of 70 Kmph, while returning a fuel economy of 18 kmpl. The mechanical carriage of the Mini van may not undergo serious changes.
Features on the Maxximo Mini van inclue Twin LSPV (Load Sensing Proportioning Valve) brakes, butterfly windows, Independent Front Suspension system and cable operated gear-shift.
