Will be made in India.
Jeep will replace the Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot with a single crossover this year. Its prototypes have been spied testing on public roads, first in a modified Jeep Renegade body and then in production body. A speculative rendering from Auto Bild previews how the new Jeep compact crossover - commonly referred to as 'Jeep C-SUV' and being developed under the codename 'Jeep 551' - may look like in production guise with design and styling inspired by the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Renegade.
The Jeep 551, reports say, will be based on a modified version of the platform that underpins the Jeep Renegade and the Fiat 500X. Given the vehicle class and the brand itself, an all-wheel drive system will be available on most variants. Two engine options will likely be available: ~164 hp 2.0-liter Tigershark petrol and ~170 hp 2.0-liter MultiJet II diesel. 6-speed manual transmission may be standard, but a 9-speed automatic transmission will be available optionally.

The Jeep 551 will be available in both right-hand drive and left-hand drive versions. The RHD version will be built in India for domestic sales, as well as exports to other RHD markets like Australia, South Africa and the UK. China is expected to get its own locally made version through its partnership with GAC.
