Following the market launch of the India-bound Suzuki Ignis in Japan, the company has released new videos of the sub-4m crossover, giving a closer look at the exterior design and specifications.
For the Japanese market, the Ignis is available in three grades - MG, MX and MZ. It measures 3,700 mm long, 1,660 mm in wide, 1,595 mm in high, has a 2,435 mm long wheelbase and has a 180 mm high ground clearance
All variants are powered by a 1.25-liter four-cylinder K12C DualJet petrol engine with VVT and SHVS mild-hybrid technology. It produces 91 PS and 118 Nm of torque, while a DC synchronous motor adds a further 3.1 PS and 50 Nm of torque. A CVT is the only gearbox option, though paddle shifters are included.
The Ignis 2WD is capable of a mileage of 28 km/l, while the 4WD-equipped model could hit 25.4 km/l, both under the JC08 driving cycle. The top-end MZ 2WD weights 880 kg, whereas the AWD model is heftier by a mere 40 kg at 920 kg.
The sub-4m crossover will make its Indian premiere as the Maruti Ignis at the Auto Expo 2016, which opens its doors on February 3, 2016, while a launch is expected to take place in the festive period season this year. It will reportedly be sold from Maruti’s NEXA outlets when launched.
