The Maruti Ignis is expected to launch in H2 2016.
Maruti Suzuki today announced its highlight products for the Auto Expo 2016, which starts for the media on February 3, 2016. India's largest car maker will debut the Maruti Vitara Brezza compact SUV at the biennial event, while also showcasing the Suzuki Ignis and the Maruti Baleno RS concept.
The Vitara Brezza will have its market launch weeks after its Auto Expo showcase. The Ford EcoSport-rival has been designed and developed by Maruti engineers in-house led by Mr. C.V. Raman, Executive Director, R&D of Maruti Suzuki.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza will borrow its engines from the Swift. The 1.3-liter DDiS diesel is expected with a 5-speed manual transmission while the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol could get a CVT in addition to a 5-speed manual unit. Expect both engines to deliver 20+ km/l on the Vitara Brezza.
The Auto Expo 2016 will also see the Indian showcase of the Ignis, which had its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show last year. Billed as a compact crossover, the Ignis is reported to launch in the festive season period of 2016, and will rival the Mahindra KUV100 chiefly.

Maruti has also announced the sporty Baleno RS for the Auto Expo. With various visual add-ons like a body kit, side skirts, larger alloy wheels and diffuser-like element, it will be interesting to see if the Baleno RS is introduced as a new top-end variant, much like the Ciaz RS.
