To launch in India during the festive season.
Auto Plus reader Herve has uploaded a couple of spyshots of the Suzuki Ignis (Maruti Ignis) testing in Europe. The Indian avatar of the compact crossover will be launched in the festive season, MSIL has confirmed.
Already on sale in Japan, the Suzuki Ignis measures 3,700 mm long, 1,660 mm wide, 1,595 mm in height, has a 2,435 mm long wheelbase, and a 180 mm high ground clearance. It's powered by a 1.25-liter four-cylinder K12C DualJet petrol engine paired to an SHVS mild-hybrid system, producing 91 PS and 118 Nm of torque. The only transmission option is a CVT, while an AWD system is available.
The India-spec Maruti Ignis will have the same dimensions, but with different engine options. Likely offerings include a smaller 1.2-liter K12B engine with VVT or a 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine equipped with Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid tech. A 5-speed manual will be standard, while AGS technology could be offered for the petrol variant.

The Maruti Ignis will be sold through the MSIL's premium NEXA showrooms, alongside the Maruti Baleno and Maruti S-Cross. It will rival the Mahindra KUV100 and variants of the Renault Kwid in the crossover-styled hatchback segment.
