Both cars will be sold through Nexa outlets.
The Maruti Baleno RS and Maruti Ignis will be launched in India during the festive season this year. According to a report from Economic Times, the launch plan for both cars seems to be going as planned. "We (Maruti Suzuki) plan to drive these two cars around the festive season," Maruti Suzuki India Executive Director Marketing and Sales, Mr. RS Kalsi told Times of India recently.
Both, the Maruti Baleno RS and Maruti Ignis were shown as production-ready prototypes at Auto Expo 2016. The Baleno RS will be a sportier, performance variant of the standard Baleno. Its main highlight will be the 1.0-litre BOOSTERJET turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 110 hp and 170 Nm of torque in the Euro-spec model. In India, it will be kitted with some sporty parts and interior features to make it seem like a performance variant.

The Maruti Ignis will be a crossover-styled mini hatchback rivaling the Mahindra KUV100. The JDM-spec Suzuki Ignis is powered by a 1.25-litre DUALJET VVT petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. It produces 91 PS (90 hp) and 118 Nm of torque. There's a DC synchronous motor for the mild-hybrid system, generating 3.1 PS (3 hp) and 50 Nm of torque. Four-wheel drive is also offered in Japan.
