The Brazilian edition of automotive magazine Car and Driver has in its cover page an illustration of the front of the Hyundai ix25. It also revealed that the much awaited compact SUV from Hyundai will debut in April at the Beijing Auto Show.
The ix25 has been caught testing in continents across the world multiple times. The compact SUV sits on the next-generation i20's underpinnings. The SUV will make its global debut at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show in April, ahead of the i20's debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
The car will take on the Ford EcoSport, Honda Vezel and the Renault (or Dacia, depending on the market) Duster. However, unlike much of its competition, it is known that Hyundai will attempt to make the ix25 feature-rich, with rear aircon vents already seen in spyshots. A Hyundai official had mentioned that some features from the Santa Fe can be expected to trickle down to this smaller SUV.
Engine options would vary market to market, but a 1.1-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 75 hp in the base variant and a bigger 1.6-liter diesel engine with two different power outputs are expected.
