Hyundai's EcoSport-rivaling mini SUV that is India-bound has been spotted testing in China. The compact SUV is expected to debut at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show (to be held in April), followed by a launch in China within this year, says a report on iFeng Auto.
Positioned below the Tucson/ix35, the mini SUV could use the 'ix25' branding. The site also says that the ix25 is expected to have a wheelbase of around 2,570 mm, making it ideal for India.
Going by the spyshots, the vehicle is based on Hyundai's Curb concept. The Curb concept comes from Hyundai's California design studio and was showcased for the first time at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show.
The concept incorporates a wraparound windshield and free-form headlamps and taillights. The interior is connectivity-themed, allowing for the users to access the internet while on the drive.
On the rear, there is an air-con vent and three adjustable headrests that emerging markets like India would ask for. The back of the front seats are sculpted to give little additional knee room and a third seat belt on the bench suggests that this would legally be a five-person carrier.
