Hyundai also plans to sell the ix25 in the U.S.A.
The Hyundai ix25 compact SUV is on sale in China, and will soon launch in the Indian market as well, though for India, reports suggest that it would get a different name. With this, Hyundai will have the emerging compact SUV segment covered in India and China, but plans to offer a similar bodystyle in developed markets such as U.S.A., Europe and Australia would take 2 years time.
Speaking to Motoring.com.au on the Australian launch of the ix25, Hyundai Australia's Public Relations General Manager, Bill Thomas, said that it would take two years for it to launch, and confirmed that the specification will be inline with a Euro-model. Further, Mr. Thomas said that the ix25 for Europe could be made in the Czech Republic.
Last year, reports indicated that Hyundai was indeed bringing out a version of the ix25 that would target developed markets primarily. The news report, by AutoNews, too indicated that such a version wouldn't be seen until 2017 however.

One of the key changes Hyundai engineers might have to make would be to comply with Euro, Australian and American crash test regulations which are far more stringent and demanding than the Chinese one. Further, an ix25 for Europe would also see the introduction of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and more efficient diesel and petrol engines.
