Chevrolet's first full size SUV for the Indian market.
GM India will launch the Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV around this festival season, which will serve as the company's flagship offering.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer is based on a body-on-frame architecture from the Colorado pick-up truck, and will be brought to India either via the CBU channel or assembled locally with CKD kits from Thailand. Owing to its large size, the Trailblazer can accommodate seven passengers, will be trimmed with premium materials and upholstery, and maybe equipped with Chevrolet’s latest-generation MyLink infotainment system with Android and iOS support.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer will likely pack a 2.8-liter diesel engine capable of 200 hp at 3,600 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Base variants in global countries is equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, while top-end variants will feature a six-speed automatic (spied), and the same config may ensue in India.
The Trailblazer is equipped with a 4×4 drivetrain with a limited slip differential, an electronic drive mode select system, Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Hill Start Assist (HSA). It is also capable of wading through water up to 800 mm deep, and has a 3-ton towing capacity.
For this year, Chevrolet will launch the Trailblazer which will be accompanied by the Spin MPV next year. The Trailblazer is Chevrolet's answer to the emerging premium full-size ladder-frame SUVs that include the upcoming all-new Ford Endeavour and 2016 Toyota Fortuner.
