The Bajaj Dominar 400 cafe racer has not been officially confirmed by Bajaj Auto.
Bajaj Dominar 400 is the Indian bike manufacturer's most powerful machine yet. Thanks to the versatile nature of the chassis, Bajaj can bring out several different forms of motorcycles, one of which has been rendered by IAB's Shoeb R Kalania.
The powertrain of the Bajaj Dominar 400 can be traced to the KTM Duke 390, but only the block has been shared. Rest of the engine, right from piston to connecting rod, is new. Unlike the race centric nature of the Duke 390, the Dominar 400 calls for a slightly more relaxed riding dynamics.
The engine produces 35 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. To make city riding a breeze, the engine is capable of producing 28 Nm of torque at as low as 3,000 rpm. Yes, a cafe racer will benefit immensely from this.
The idea a cafe racer came up in the UK back in the 60s when riders used to race each other from one cafe to another on their modified motorcycles. Converting the Bajaj Dominar 400 to a cafe racer is not a big and time consuming process. The company can add a small cowl over the pillion seat, even make it detachable like the one seen in the Bajaj V15.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is priced at INR 1.36 lakhs for the non-ABS variant and INR 1.50 lakhs for the ABS-equipped model (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
