Speaking to Indian Autos Blog on the sidelines of the launch of the 2019 Maruti Wagon R, Mr C V Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd said -
Just yesterday, (on January 22) we started bookings of it (2019 Maruti Baleno). In a week or 10 days you will be able to see it in the market.
Launched in October 2015, the Maruti Baleno is more than three years old and is due for some mid-cycle action. Various spy images have revealed that the refreshed model features a new bumper that carries a revised air dam and new fog lamp enclosures. Furthermore, there's a new chrome applique for the upper grille. Other than this, the updated car is expected to offer machined alloy wheels and updated tail lamps. The interior will offer refreshed ornamentation.
The Maruti Baleno will continue to be on sale in four trims - Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The entry-level model has received rear parking sensors, while Delta and Zeta grades get LED projector headlamps. The Delta model even gains a 2-DIN audio system with touch controls. The safety kit on all the versions will come with two additional features in the form of a speed-alert system and co-driver seat belt reminder.
Mechanically, the 2019 Maruti Baleno will be the same as the outgoing version. It will be available with two engine choices - K12M 1.2-litre petrol and D13A 1.3-litre diesel. The former offers a maximum power of 62 kW (84.30 PS) and a peak torque of 115 Nm, while the latter produces 55.2 kW (75.05 PS) and 190 Nm. Both the motors come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The petrol version is even available with an optional CVT.
