The report further adds that the Dominar Scrambler 400 will carry a premium of at least INR 20,000 over the standard version. For reference, the Dominar 400 non-ABS variant is available for INR 1.48 lakh, while the ABS-equipped version is sold at INR 1.63 lakh (both, ex-showroom Delhi).

The report has not mentioned any details about the differences that the Scrambler variant will have. It does say that the new variant will share the majority of components like the engine, chassis and suspension with the standard variant, which is quite obvious. The front suspension on the current Dominar 400 is a conventional telescopic unit. However, test mules of the updated Dominar motorcycles that were spotted on a few occasions in the past revealed a more premium, upside-down telescopic front forks.

The Scrambler variant would use the familiar 373 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine likely in the same tuning: 34.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 35 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

A single disc brake at the front and a single disc at the rear will provide stopping power. With the new safety norms scheduled to commence in April 2019, the Scrambler should come equipped with a dual-channel ABS as standard. However, it is to be seen whether the new Scrambler will get a switchable ABS – a feature that is typically seen on off-road style motorcycles.

The Scrambler variant of the Dominar 400 will be a direct threat to the Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS that is sold for INR 1.78 lakh (ex-showroom).
